# 64 You helped me hear the music of my heart...

I'm not sure what all music the "cool kids" are listening to these days, but its probably not anything to which I listen. I like really random music-- lots of 80s and 90s (now termed "oldies" which is super sad) and then actual "oldies" from the 50s and 60s and some 70s (though not the BeeGees. They are annoying). I don't care for rap, never listened to hard rock and cannot fathom the appeal of Justin Bieber. I like some country and I enjoy listening to stations like KLove (though KLove tends to play the same songs over and over and over and over again, which is sorta annoying).

I also don't really like "new" songs-- in fact, when a song comes on the radio that I don't know, I turn it. Immediately. Thus, I rarely know any new songs unless I happen to hear them on the tv or when I'm listening to the radio and cannot change it for some reason.

However, I'm trying to "expand my musical horizons" these days. I first decided to make this decision when I realized that I hadn't updated my ipod or bought any new songs for my ipod in many years. Like 5 years. And then I listened to a friends ipod the other day and it had more than 9000 songs! I mean, really? That's ridiculous. I tried to find "Build Me Up, Buttercup" and it took me like 10 minutes to scroll to the "B"s. Thats way too many, but it made me realize, I really do need to stay current with what the kids are listening to these days and get some more music on my ipod. In contrast, I have like 400 songs and I thought that was a lot!

Then I was inspired by my cousin Emilee who is a music weirdo-- she listens to anything and everything. She's way past eclectic and has entered the "multiple-personality" arena of music. But, its funny to hear her sing to literally every song that comes on the radio and know all the words!

Anyway, I've decided to get some new music and try to listen to some different stuff. I found this R.E.M> video on Lainey today-- she is obsessed with Aaron Johnson (who is the star of this video) and Sam Taylor-Wood (who directed this video). Sam and Aaron are a couple and she is about 23 years old than him and they just had a kid. Its really odd. But, I loved R.E.M.'s music-- always have! And I really like this video and this song. Its strange but I like it! See, this is an example of me listening to a song in a unique way (internet) that I would have turned off the radio because I didn't know the words!

Also, I've decided to download the new Adele CD, 21. I loved her first album, 19, but I've managed to lose it somewhere, so I really should buy that one too. She has the most beautiful voice and is really so beautiful to me as a person as well. I love her.

Anyone have any other music suggestions for me?

Bonus: My blog title is the lyric to a song-- any guesses???
